El objetivo de este artículo es analizar lateoría de la política simbólica de MurrayEdelman, a través del recorrido de tres desus principales categorías: el simbolismo, ellenguaje político y el espectáculo político.El análisis simbólico de la política propuestopor Edelman combina una concepción manipuladorade los símbolos, en los que éstosson herramientas en manos de las élitespolíticas para mantener pasivas alas audiencias de la política, con una concepciónconstitutiva del lenguaje político.Aunque en buena medida inadecuada paracaptar las complejidades de la comunicaciónpolítica contemporánea, el análisis simbólicode Edelman posee una vena escéptica sobrela política democrática que continúa siendorelevante actualmente.Downloads
